Rowan Scottish Tweed Aran

Scottish Tweed Aran
100% wool
hand wash/dry flat
chunky weight, 16st/4" on US size 8-9
100g, 186yds
sample color: claret

Rowan Scottish Tweed Aran is the little brother of the Chunky version reported back on September 1, and I'm going to let those observations stand with this thinner weight. The biggest difference I could lay hold of was that the tweed bits in this color are so subtle as to be fairly unnoticeable.

Swatch: Longtail cast on, 20 st.
k,p repeat, two rows, then stockinette:
*p row, k row*

Rowan Scottish Tweed Aran preblockPreblock-->
With size 8 needles:

4-5/8"(W) x 3"(H)
13rows/2" --> 26rows/4"

Soaked in cold water and a little dish soap; no dye run. Rolled in a towel and then patted out to dry. No pins were used during drying.

Rowan Scottish Tweed Aran postblock

<--After Block:
4-1/2"(W) x 3"(H)
12rows/2" --> 24rows/4"

The blocked swatch has changed gauge somewhat, although the size isn't much different. (I could have miscounted rows with the unblocked swatch.) Suggested gauge is 16st/4", but even at 17st/4" it is a little ventilated for my taste. If you want a little more reliable body I'd go to at least 18-19st/4".

Mmm, wooly.
